Fished selmuir today. I'd gone expecting the fish to be deeper down so had taken a few freshly tied gold-heads, shrimp, and bloodworm. But there was the occasional splashy rise, a wee hatch of sedge about lunchtime, and (oddly!) some kind of largish upwing fly towards about 4pm. Overcast, but flat calm for most of the day. Water very clear.
So my gold heads and bloodworm worked fine but only when I could keep them high in the water - which was a bit tricky. GRHE and wee black buzzers were easier to keep high up (1 - 3 ft) and did the business too.
Pulled out 5 (one in oven as I type) and returned a couple more.
Also caught the obligatory trees...
