Decided that i would finish work an hour early and catch an evenings fishing before the clocks change and the darkness really sets in!
I arrived to the usual cheerful welcome from Wulma and Drift the infamous Collie

The water was flat calm and there was another 5 fishermen casting away. I decided that after my weekends sucess on a small black minkie that i would give it another shot. Also, instead of and intermediate or floating i would use my Snowbee Midge tip line. I find this line amazing for nymphing, pulling lures etc as it produces no surface wake whatsoever due to the front 1 metre of main line being sunk. It also lets you fish in the upper 1-5 feet of water depending on your retreival rate and pulls the flie very linear.
Within 2 casts i felt a sharp tug on my line and continued retrieving at a steady rate and then bang a sold take! The fish lept a few feet out of the water twice and put up one hell of a head shaking fight! After landing the fish it was a stunning dark 3.5lb rainbow.
After getting myself sorted again i continued fishing to loose another stunning take straight away. The fishing went quite for 45 minutes and i then managed to catch a further 2 rainbows. One of which was a prime example - Massive tail, white on the leading edges of all its fins and a stunning bright magenta colour throughout its gill plates and flanks. What a fish!
Wulma came over to see what i was doing to catch on what was said to be a slow day due to the weather conditions and a started to explain. Once again i felt a tug and then bang - in again!
All i can say is that for 2 hours fishing catching 4 fish and loosing 1 and every fish was stunning is WHAT A PLACE! I must have fished here 30 times over the summer and never had a night like this! Alderneuk is really coming into its own as the temperature drops and the fish become more active. I advise anyone that if they want to catch quality stocked fish in a quiet well run fishery with brilliant owners go here!
