Default Barcraigs

It's not been the best season at ressie this year , water way to high , and only a few accessible bits of the banking for fishing (no boats ) so it's hard work trying to cover the 189 acres.
But the last few weeks have seen some great fishing , myself and fishfinger have had a few jaunts up to the ressie and it's fished well (on the fry) some lovely rainbows and blues and boy do they fight , maybe hang out there for the winter if fishfinger can get his act together .

Default Where is " Barcraigs "

You Heathen , where is " Barcraigs " it's one of the waters " Rowbank Angling Club" have it is one of the best waters in Scotland , but sadly under, managed , 189 acres of prime water , every feature you could imagine, islands , drop off's , structures ,and when the water is down , well , it's a different ball game .
The two ressies " Rowbank" and " Barcraigs " are situated at the back end of Howwood not far from the Howwood trout fishery , Rowbank is 98 acres and Browns only , Barcraigs has it all , Browns , Rainbows and the best Blues ive encountered , keeps us happy , well the dozen or so that fish it on a regular basis , and we have 270 memebers , go work it out .

First fished Barcraigs in 88 when i first joined Rowbank used to catch some nice browns to 3lb+ each season, when they started stocking with the rainbows more of the members started fishing it.Sadly i'm no longer in the club but my brother Paul fishes it and catches overwintered bows regular, cracking fish.As for the Rowbank i caught my first 3lb brown there 20odd years ago.Two great waters

they are both awesome and if they were down south with that water quality they would be among the best fisheries in england

Alex i have a few questions for a man like you who is in the know (1) Why do Scottish Water keep some ressies full to the brim and others half empty , Barcraigs never went down an inch this season. (2) Do Scottish Water have any staff , ive never seen any up at the ressies , ever .

I believe that Scottish Water are testing the dam walls so high water will be much in evidence for the next couple of seasons.A great club water but the club- not so great nowadays.
