FISHING REPORT 01/10/09

The fishery has been very busy this week with lots of anglers enjoying the mild Autumn weather. The fish are certainly going deeper with Lures now becoming the main fish catcher. Orange or green patterns seem to be the dominant colour. Been some Daddylongleg's around and they can be very effective. Also some evidence of fish feeding on Fry in the margins.

Three Doubles caught this week.
16 year old Ryan Tindall caught a fish of 15lb 2oz on a UV Yellow Blob while having some angling tuition. David Woods of Coxhoe caught a rainbow of 15lb on his first visit to the lakes. The fish took a Green Pupa and battled for 20 minutes before being landed. William Johnson of Newcastle caught and returned a full finned fish of 11lb his best fish of the seven he caught. Peter Norbourne of Stockton caught 12 fish using a selection of small Mini lures and Buzzers and his fishing partner Nigel Palmer caught 10 fish using similar tactics

West House winter league starts with its 1st qualifier on Sunday 18th October. £1000 cash prize in final

The best flies this week were Black Zonkers, Cats Whiskers, Foam Daddy's, Black Hoppers, Hot head damsel and mini lures.
