Default Hanningfield today

I think the words "fishing it's nuts off" best describes Hanningfield right now - on the Wateraid match today. It was a 20 fish limit to the boat and we were done by 1.30pm, best 4-10 but that got us nowhere

It was a weight only match and one pair had a 7-13 so I suspect they won Sunkistbob and James Britten did well (eventually) but we had to take them to the fish and show them how to catch them

DB's on a midge tip for me but the bung and pulling also worked.

Heh heh, We came third (second, actually, as it was a tie for for 1st) and I am dead chuffed as this was my 'comp' ever and luckily Mr Britten was a top guide

Everytime James and I turned around, you and Bart were hoiking out a fish

A brilliant day out and great to learn so more tricks from Mr Britten himself. Each time I fish with Charlie and now James, I learn something more.

James has offered me a standing invite to Rutland and I would really like to try my chances there.

You may be assured of another bag of Peri-Peri Biltong the next time around too!!

Ben, that was a terrific performance for your first comp. especially as you were such a significant contributor to your team's success

All you need is a change of headgear and you could be a big hit on the comp scene

Actually, you should join HFA and do the boat comps - you would learn a lot as I have done from some of the guys there like Lloyd and Gary.

A superb performance from the Sunkist one, I started the day fishing like a numpty and missed/dropped more takes than I want to remember Thanks to Charlie and Bart for showing us where all the fish were, I can’t believe all the other boats didn't spot you boys pulling out fish, although you were a bit quick so maybe they just weren't paying another attention.

Ben was doing me 11 - 8 when it was decided to have a quick check of fish numbers so we didn't embarrass ourselves and weigh in less fish, abracadabra Ben pulls another fish from the bag and completes our limit. Turns out he can't count very well and had actually boated 12, well done Chap top angling.

Like Charlie said Hanningfield is fishing well, but then you would expect it to after putting 7000 fish in it over the last couple of weeks. The water levels are very low as well so that's helping too. It's not all stockie bashing though, there are some very good quality fishing coming out.

I'll look forward to a day out on Rutland or Grafham with you soon I hope Ben.

Hanningfield continues to fish fabulously. I was done by 12.15 today - all on a midge tip, mixture of lures and DB's but came nowhere.

Bart won it finishing a bit later but with two real lumps in a bag totalling 20-15 plus time bonus.

Well done to Gary Morris who was second with another big bag and won the four match series.

Pretty much everyone had a limit of long silver fish today and some of the folks that practised yesterday had over 25 fish. Must be the best fishery in England right now.
