There are undoubtedly many hundreds of small llyns/tarns scattered around the Beacons,
many close to Merthyr, and after reading a fantastic article in Trout and Salmon magazine I am curious as to how many may contain wild trout, even char, who knows?
Surely it must be inevitable that out of all these lakes/llyns/tarns some must contain trout or at least perch, pike etc?Either way, during these holidays I shall be investigating these waters diligently, what better than a mountain lake to your self, perfect solitude and isolation from the incessant disturbance of modern society, and maybe a fish or two?
If fish do frequent these remote lakes then they are purely wild and probably untouched by man as I am guessing the isolation and lack of knowledge concerning the uplands of the Beacons and mid Wales would render this true?Hopefully
Even though most of the land is owned, most of the fishing concerning upland lakes is free, but of course this varies and there may well be a charge, but considering the owners are usually the National Trust,Forestry Commission etc I am guessing there are no defined rules governing angling?
If I do find such a lake I will not publicly post it's details as wild fish stocks are very thin and the whole stock may be less than a hundred fish, dependant on size etc,but any one's welcome to join me on my 'quest'

The exiting thing is that there is absolutely no knowledge regarding this issue so who knows what's out there?
