Thumbs up Allandale Tarn Fishery report!..

Well, we've definitely had our share of beasties on the move this past week! The cooler waters & abundant fly & nymph feeding have brought the bigger fish into the top few feet of the waters, here at Allandale. Mr Gibson landed 3 for just under 17lb, his biggest at 10lb was tempted by a green mini lure. Some of Sundays biggest fish were, 8lb 12oz taken on a size 14 black spider by Kevin White of the Linlithgow A/C & fellow angler Mr Weirs healthy Speciemen of 6lb 4oz was drawn to a CDC just along the margins!.. But the weightest haul of the day was by Meregue Jnr. His 13lb er was caught on a slim Hot Head Damsel variant later in the afternoon!..
On duller days sedges, hoppers, hawthornes & the yellow dancer have been consistant patterns, large & bushy!
On sunner days the black spider, CDC's, nymphs & damsels variants are proving tasty favourites & even the old Scabby Doo is getting a look in during windier moments as Wullie Jamieson landed a few on this, including an 8 & 1/4lb er!..

Check out www.allandaletarn.com for details on our evening courses that have started again as the fishing hours are closing in!..

Tight lines!

Talking Allandale team wins again!....

After a few cancelations due to holidays & bad weather , we finally fished the final away match of the summer dry fly league at Howwood fishery in East Renfrew on Saturday! We knew it would be a challenging nights fishing as we kicked off at 3pm, which is usually when the fish go off the feed no matter where you go fishing at this time of year, so there was never going to be a burst to start of with. Some wanted to change it to an 'anything goes' match as it is later in the year than usual, but the majority wanted left as a dry fly event!.. There were a few nice fish lost needless to say, the biggest that got away was hooked by our own team member Steven Rae, but it shook it's head as it leapt out the water, well out in the middle & gone!.. The final results of the night saw Team Howwood win by one fish in front which gave them a 6lb 8oz advantage. But over the two matches team Allandale have taken the trophy home again with a total of a 16 trout advantage overall!..
