Default Alderneuk report

Hi folks, alderneuk has been on top form off late with loads of dry fly chances, even in daytime, mornings have continued to outfish evenings, earlybirds certainly getting some great sport, hoppers, daddies, yellow owls, and cdc's top surface flies, and diawl bachs, pt nypmhs and buzzers sub-surface, floating lines all the way. Some cracking catch's lately with Dougie and Simon bagging no less than 20 between them on Sat, on all methods to, I suspect Dougie is still smarting from the awesome fish which sipped in a yellow owl then preceded to rip all his fly line plus 25yrds of backing before breaking the cast, amazing sight, we've tried to convince him it was a bionic 5lber!! Legends are made of this. Old country joe nearly done the "grand slam" of rainbow, blue, tiger and brownie, missing out only on the tiger, still to be completed!! Heres the lovely 3lb+ Brownie from the set.

Calum had his hands full when this stunning 4lb Blue led him a merry dance as only blues can, what is it with these guys fightwise? Radioactive I reckon.

Just a wee reminder that the fishery is closed for a comp, this sunday the 30th August from opening till 5pm, evening sessions still available, many thanks to country Joe for the new opening hours post, here's a reminder for all, from september, our closing day will be a Tuesday instead of a monday. and from Nov. through till March, we will be closed Tuesday and Thursday, any queries call 07901 602020. looking forward to seeing all you FFF guys on the 27th Sept, if the fishing stays half as good as it been off late, you won't be dissapointed, Best Fishes Wilma and Wullie.

Fished here again last night - I was lucky enough to have the place to myself for most of the evening. Fish were rising everywhere with many breaching the water by a foot or two!

Within 30 mins I hooked into a 4lb rainbow which led me a merry dance around the shallows. It seems that the wonderful scottish summer we are having has cooled the water down to a degree where the fish fight like they are on steroids! 3 times the fish tail walked. I thought i had lost it for a moment in some weed around the margins but managed to bully it out. A further 3 or 4 screams of the reel, once onto my backing, and it was ready to be landed. I shouted over to wulma before doing so as i thought it was a 6lb+'er but it wasn't.

It was an absolute stunning fish! The fins were immaculate and the tail was like a shovel. The tell tale whiting of the fins was also evident. I just wish i took a picture before preparing it for tonights dinner!

Unfortunately i didnt hook into anymore as my excitment for all the rising trout made me blank several times.

Thanks again Wullie and Wulma.

See you at the competition this Sunday.

Si

Yo Simon, Wilma mentioned the epic scrap! Your right there, water down to 16c certainly makes them much more active! Wish you'd seen the run that fish Dougie lost made, i've certainly never seen a trout take so much line in such a short space of time, it was awesome, looking forward to Sunday, let's hope the weather gods are kind to us! Get in quick for bacon/sausage roll's before that scott and mike blag them all, gollum and "my precious" spring to mind, were u there when scotty purloined the jaffa cakes? it was like trying top take methodone from a junkie trying to get em back!! See ya Sunday mate, have a good week. Wullie C.
