Hi There,
A great day at Sweethope yesterday.
On leaving Berwick I was cursing at the brilliant sunshine but it clouded over just as I arrived at the fishery. :-)
After tackling up with dries I motored the boat to the west end of the lough.
I was slightly concerned at the lack of any rising fish and the first one I saw took my heather fly.
Things were slow until about ten o'clock but then it just picked up and a fall of heather flies and daddies together with an afternoon hatch of midge got the fish rising in good style particularly around the weed patch to the south of the island.
I never changed from the dries all day and caught fish out in the open as well.
As a rough rule there were more rainbows in the open water and more browns in the margins.
It really was a great day with almost perfect fishing conditions. Around 98% cloud cover a steady light breeze and rising fish.
Given half a chance I will be back next week!
Best Regards
robbie
