Had another cracking day on Saturday....although it didn't start off too well - got totally drenched for the first two hours and didn't move a single fish !
Then got blethering to George and managed to miss two fish in quick succession !

After a coffee and a roll, headed over to the other side next to the burn and ended up with 7 (including a very nice and none too happy Blue about 3lb)....I dropped at least 4 including an absolute lunker which snapped my orange buzzer clean off.

What worked for me was a washing line with a small orange booby/fritz on point and a bright orange epoxy buzzer on the dropper. The takes were savage and the fish fought like hell.

The current stocking policy is working much much better....and its great sport.

HUK ended up with 3 (incl two brownies).

See you next week !

Would you do a discount for a FFF day out at it?

I used to fish here reguarly when the previous owner Joe ran the place, was one of the best top o the water fisheries around with grade 1 fish. Was up last year and left after an hour, got fed up competing with the bubble float brigade. Are the bait fishers still allowed in with the fly fishers?

I have emailed Jim1234 as he is sorting the forum days out from now on.

I take it there are still loads of other species in it other than rainbows? The last time I was there I was told that there were Charr as well as Brook trout in it as well as a big Golden trout.

Pointy - theres definitely other species in there - I've had Blues , browns , Tigers , loads of Char and one goldie at the Haylie.
Don't think theres any Goldies left tho.....(don't care for them much myself - ugly buggers and not much fight in them).

There has been recently a lot of "BIG" uns stocked.....seen them leaping around but not caught one yet (apart from the sod that snapped me on Saturday).

Thanks SteveO - IIRC it was you that put me onto it in the 1st place as you mentioned about all the different types of fish in it.

I got a PM from one of the guys who was fishing it on Saturday there and he said it was superb and a major difference to last year.

Looks like I will be giving it a go once the brownie season ends.

Default Monday-Tuesday

Monday fairly quiet day fish still close to surface fished well on wets just below surface plenty fish showing as we were out all day doing the dreaded ground work there was one HUGE splash i mean BIG like REALLY REALLY BIG.
It was me soaked head to toe the things you do to get home early.

Tuesday: Wet windy cold but still the fish surface one local face catching a few hours before work, Returning a few and got burst.
A Well known fly fisherman from Hampshire took him a good few rain showers before he found his feet in Ayrshire water and assures me he was pleased to eventually touch some Scottish trout.Caught On:Olive dries, Copper wound Buzzers on the bung.
George.

Hi Walker
yes bait fishers still on the same water but not had any problems since i have been back and i dont think there will be any problems or they will be asked to leave as i appreciate a good days fishing and the peace and harmony that goes with it.
