Fished it for the first time the other day.

Very well maintained and very friendly staff. Good quality of fish and had a nice fish of 4lb that fought like a demon.

Down side, it is a bit of a uniform bowl, surrounded by platforms. There are boats but due to the size they have to be moored to the buoys provided. Can be a little busy along the dam wall. The setting isn't really my bag but for what it is its very well run and the sort of place I would happily go for a few hours after work.

Dam wall seems to be the hot spot and quickly got my limit on a weighted bloodworm and a black epoxy buzzer, then went dead (one of those funny nights when an electrical storm is about to break). Most fish seemed to rise near the mooring buoy nearest the hut.

Worst problem is finding it. You are best driving through Polmont (from the roundabout J4 of the M9). At the car wash take the road to the right. A short distance down that road there is a sign for the fishery on the right. Its very easy to miss. Its then down a winding wooded track.

Tight lines

Rory

Millhall Reservoir

Millhall Fishery is located near junction 4 of the M9 between Grangemouth and Bo`ness, close to the village of Polmont. It consists of 8 acres of superbly stocked water, surrounded by natural woodland. There is ample parking space for all anglers, with disabled parking close to the jetty.

It is bank and boat fly fishing and the water is stocked primarily with fully finned hard fighting rainbow trout and a few golden trout. There is also a resident head of wild brown trout. The average rainbow caught at Millhall exceeds 2lb and double figure trout up to 15lb in weight are regularly.

The reservoir is the home of Avonbank Fishing Club and is currently administrated solely by the serving committee of the club. The season starts Saturday 4th March and ends Sunday 5th Nov.

For further information, bookings and permits please contact...

Avonbank Fishing Club, Millhall Reservoir, Old Polmont, Falkirk, Central Scotland.

Telephone: 01324-714190

Avonbank Fishing Club's own website has a great deal more information including rules of
the water, competitions, biggest fish, facilities for disabled anglers, picture galleries and more.
