Default Rotten Calder

Its, still there, and dont be put of by the name, it has plenty of fish through the river ,However be careful of stone throwing, buckfast drinking neds with tracksuits (and that is just the chicks LOL) there are thousands of them, also dog owners barbour jacket and green wellies let their dogs play in the river at the Country Park, Its a cracking wee stream and can be be very difficult fishing at times but very rewarding. The local Angling club (EKAC) do a lot of great work on the river, stocking, pollution, Best to fish either the top end or the bottom end,

i used to fish the top end beyond the crutherland hotel,a nice wee pool on a bend, there was a lamp post over the river near it i caught 5 browns from that one pool back in the early 90s! i think theres now a sainsburys depot near it now! many happy childhood memories of the calder!

I know where the Sainsbury Depot is and the Crutherland being an East Kilbride boy, but I can't think of the spot your talking about.

Default Rotter calder EKAC

I agree its fantastic value for money, the local EKAC have doen very well to keep the costs down, The Lampost pool, i think with the development of the Langlands Ind site, means that the fish dont hold up there but it is always worth a cast ot 2, (its very easy to spook the fish, has to be very delicate).

This is putting me in the mood to fish the river one evening, plenty of rain, so the Neds wont be out, and........if no one is ledgering the Horseshoe with boatrods and bite alarms!! it could also be worth a cast or 3 ....

It is a cracking little brown trout water..........................
