never fished here before,however i understand that boats are often booked up at peak times. i might give the bank a go and was wondering if anybody has any tips,hot spots e.t.c. cheers.

Bank fishing is excellent at Carron - I enjoy it as much as from the boat. You are restricted to the road shore but there's four miles of it with mostly decent wading and the fish are often lying close in. So much of the time you're covering the same water as the boat anglers.

There's a point not far from the jetty - that is a good area, as is the bay just beyond it. You can also park at a layby close to the island. Across from the island and the shore on either side of it usually holds fish. Further down there's a gate where you can park and fish the bank down to stockie bay - also a good area.

I fished the bank the other night and had as much action as most of the guys on the boats.
