Default Alderneuk fishery report

A private competion was held recently at Alderneuk and although the day was extremely sunny and bright 12 anglers landed 17 fish. The winner was Jim Boardman with 4 fish to just under 14lb. Heaviest fish of the day went to Bert Hogg with a lovely 41/2lb rainbow. A good day was had by all.
We have recently stocked some larger trout: 71/2lb and 81/2lb rainbows, 61/4lb and 71/2lb tiger trout and a 61/2lb brown trout. Also stocked were some smaller tigers to about 41/2lb and some lovely blues. This has added a slightly different dimension to the fishery and the anglers have had some excellent sport.
Fish of note: fantastic looking 4lb tiger caught on a Cruncher, rainbow just under 5lb on a buzzer and a perfect 3lb 11oz blue on a Cats Whisker.

Great wee fishery, extremely well run, grade A fish, that fight like trains,
I enjoyed catching my first 4 lb Tiger Trout,
But it was catching six, and losing many more on a size 16 dry,
And none under 3lbs,that was a day to remember.
Never caught a fish at this venue, that did not have a perfect full tail.

Default Directions to Alderneuk

Alderneuk is situated 4 miles outside Dumfries. Take the A75 (Stranraer road) until you reach the Garroch roundabout. Then take the second exit marked Local Access. Follow road for 0.5 mile and take right hand turn at sign for fishery, continue along this road for 0.75 miles (approx) and fishery is on the right. My number is 07901 602020, please phone if you need any further information.
