Hi Tonka, I had an evening session on Piper eleven days ago, very difficult, a few fish showing, there were 25 of us in the comp. I had one and my boat partner won the comp. with three fish. All the fish came to a Connemara Black on the top dropper.
Billy.

hi Toshka, the chap I was fishing with, his name was Ken something or other, he had just retired from the courier, he was the angling correspondant, I don't think they replaced him.

Piper dam arrived 4-30 on friday white horses all over bright sun not ideal conditions no shelter on this loch,We could not anchor because not all boats had anchors so Drogue it ,First drift up the centre SFA,Saw Jim Doyle rowing his mate burnt his engine out in the weed bed,Fishing was poor to say the least ,I ended up with 1fish boat partner had 2fish i think JD ended with 1 to ,All in all a poor night

Still quite poor if my last couple of trips are anything to go by............had an afternoon/evening two weeks ago & blanked. Quite sunny during the afternoon with few fish showing. The odd fish was being taken off the water, but no-one seemed to be consistantly catching. Fish were taking anything from Yellow Dancers to Ace of Spades, but no joy on the buzzers (at any depth) Nothing to traditional wets either. Tried a couple of CDC variants & had one or two plucks, but an easterly came up & everything just went to pot. Came off the water about half-nine in a stinking mood! Lol.

Had another go today, & conditions seemed just about perfect! A southerly breeze & good cloud cover, but again it was very dour. There were a few fish showing, but I couldn't see what they were on. No shucks on the surface, no adults flies either. But the swallows were going daft on something, so I can only imagine it was something airborne? There was the odd adult midge on the surface, but an imitation (with a black buzzer on point) gave me absolutely hee-haw. Tried everything from black spiders to damsel nymphs..............lost one fish of about 2lb on a Daiwl Bach, but had jack-all else. Tried a few lures too.........Yellow Dancer seems to be the favourite at the moment, but it's done jack for me so far. Gave it a fair go though. Also tried Cats Whisker, Viva (which has always done well for me here), Ace of Spades, & even resorted to stripping a Dunkeld back just in case they wanted something flashy, but no joy whatsoever.

Some nice fish showing though.............would be even nicer to see one of the buggers close up!!! Lol
