Default Wet Fly

I wonder if somebody could put me in the picture here. I'm relatively new to stillwater fishing and saw for the first time recently a team of 3 wet flies on a floating line being stripped back. Is this how it's done with wet patterns on still water. I thought they were to be retrieved very slowly!

Both styles work. Traditionally wet flies were fished in a team of 3 or 4 casting a short line in front of a slow drifting boat, basically just retreiving the flies a little faster than the speed of the drift.
More modern methods include casting much further and stripping the flies back at various speeds.
