Default Loch leven

well, as no one took me up on the offer of a day on the mighty loch leven i ventured out alone ,first time back on the big loch for a good few years, its not stocked at all these days so i wasnt sure what to expect.

to put this vast stretch of water into context the likes of rescobie is 300acres ish.leven is 3.5 miles long and 3500acres of water to navigate, quite daunting really and speaking to willie the gillie he advised me to stay up the top end of the loch as the wind forcast for today was strong and gaining in strength later in the day.............he wasnt wrong.

10.00am on the water, nice chop on the water but quite a nice breezy sunny day seen me head to the scart. fishing was di7 and leven style wets and lures, pulling for fish on the drouge was hard work but must say i really enjoyed my day, and wasnt long befor i found the fish and repeated drifts over the productive area, managed to catch and return 4 fish with plenty follows and pulls, with what i would guess as 4-5lb brown turned on my top fly, lesson for today, hang your flies a bit longer...lol

so that was that, the waves were growing and with a long motor in i made my way back to the boathouse,in what can only be described as like being at sea in a 20ft wooden boat,,,lol, charactar buliding stuff. if anyone fancies a day out here give me a shout ill be back soon..

Well done mate - sound like a cracking day. i love loch leven... i always get a lump in my throat when i step into those clinkers and motor out the harbour.

I'm quite envious if you live close - it certainly has a character of it's own and full of history.

Well done mate, i drive past it twice a day and must admit, miss fishing it, so will prob take you up on the offer sometime.

Fished it several times, years ago and loved it. Fell out of fishing while i studied but back, bigger and better now so yeah, be up for a evening on the loch.
