Default Hanningfield Today

Today was the first Eliminator at Hanningfield, and it fished really, really well.

So well, in fact, that in spite of bagging up by 1.30pm, I finished well down the field. The problem was that my boat partner and I spent two hours twiddling for just five fish between us in front of the lodge and then saw the first boat come back at 12.00

Quick enquiries revealed that Hall Point was "solid" with fish, so a quick drive down there, two blobs on a Di5 and we were both done in the next hour. Unfortunately that was way too late, although first and second came to people who went to the far end of the dam and had some better fish before joining the stockie bash. Not many 3 and 4 pounders caught, but there was one lump at 8lbs-6ozs

Charlie, sorry to hear you didnt place but still sounds like a good day out. Weather today seemed a bit of a chore to be out in a boat though

How were you fishing the sunk lines?

Me? picking your brains about sunk-line work? never

How did the elbow hold up?

Ben, elbow stood up well thanks

I fished two blobs, one orange on the point and an orange/yellow (what we call "tequila") on the dropper. they were about 10 feet apart with the dropper five feet from the flyline.

Cast it, out pull it back fast then hang it with about 5 feet of line hanging off the rod tip - caught three where I just saw that line pull away whiist hanging and one took the point while I was unhooking its friend from the dropper.

Fish were really close to the bank ie 20-40 yards out from Hall Point.
