Default Blakewell

Hi I am down in Devon for a long weekend this weekend coming, I was thinking about taking my tackle and giving Blakewell a try, is it worth a trip over there? Any hints and tips and a report on how its fishing lately would be much appreciated if you think it is. Lee

I like to go to carsington recently but more often than not I pick a water I have never fished before, I've been doing it since my mom's folks moved to cornwall and a fly fisher I met at work, his dad ran a buisiness renovating houses in avon and wilts.Ikeep a rod and a box of flies in the boot and just take off every third friday

Default Brilliant idea

Hi Foosandtrout, thats what I prefer, my local water would be Draycott, but I prefer to travel a bit to places I have never been or seen before, this season I have tried Churn Pool and Watermark (both in Cirencester) which I loved and Ettington in Telford which I hated.
Looking forward to this weekend at Blakewell, I will let you know how I get on.
If you find anywhere interesting or you need some company any time give me PM. Lee
P.S. Ever fish Packington? I get drawn back there occasionally from time to time and regret going almost every time.

One of my fishing buddies was down there last week and had a good, if somewhat challenging, day. After all you don't want it to be too easy!!
Blakewell is a cracking small water, well managed with some nice stock, and very good value for money.
You'll certainly find the fish quite high in the water and I've had some good sport down there on the dry fly.
Lures and blobs will get you fish quickly, but the water responds well to nymphs/buzzers and will often sort out a better stamp of fish.
Good luck and enjoy.
