Has anyone fished Rockbourne recently? I'm down that way in a couple of weeks, 20 minutes from there or Woodington, and Rockbourne looks the better of the two (not cheap though!)

Any info appreciated.

I fished Rockbourne on Saturday for a few hours. Fished the top four lakes with the lake at the back near the stream beat being the most productive. The trout could be spotted in the brilliant bank holiday sunshine but they were quite fussy. They did chase a little olive damsel and a GH PTN worked well too.

Its a stunning place, very mature surroundings, added a few more flies to the trees which are already full of them. Not too busy for a saturday, quite a few beginners out and a few lessons going on. Trout are in good condition and I had a cracking fight from two of them. Had a chat with the owner Gilly who was knowledgable and friendly. Its not the cheapest fishery and no C&R but there are good size fish in there, a choice of water to fish and friendly staff and customers.
