Default Farletonview fishery update

The fishing at Farleton has been going a bit slow recently, probably due to the fish wising up to the black buzzer. I had six at the weekend and most of the regulars seemed to be catching quite a few fish, it was pretty busy on Sunday. The best flies have been gold, olive and green buzzers along with nymphs such as the good-old Diawl bach.

The fishery owner, Simon, will be stocking the main lake with around 150 blue trout later this week. This should hopefully help the sport to pick up.

Also the smaller lake is closed for instruction, it will stay this way until mid-summer.

Pleccy,

My mate has a caravan up there and fishes most weeks Fri or Sat night. If you see him - his name's Ray Taylor - give him a load of stick off me for being a 'lure dragger'!!

No, he drives a 55 plate Mondeo has brown hair and glasses, late 40s, answers to the nickname Taffy.

Absolute trout magnet......even if he is a dirty lure puller!

Out of the three years of fishing at Farleton I've never seen him once, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

You are right Pleccy22 the fishing is a little more difficult now. The buzzer hatch has altered slightly and the majority of black buzzers are very small. There is a small hatch of large olive buzzers -about size 12 and the Trout are nailing those. Also there have been loads of tiny black beetles blowing on and the hawthorn fly season is in full swing . On both Sunday and yesterday the fish were latching onto them in the early afternoon but the wind has tended to be in the wrong direction for mind blowing hawthorn action. Damsel nymphs are slowly putting in an appearance and as you say later this week anything plopped onto the water and pulled will work with the new stocking.

Keep bending the rod.
Bob

A quick update...

I went down to Farleton on Friday evening, had a few takes on a damsel nymph but no fish. The sunny conditions pushed the fish right down on Saturday so it was a sinking line with two blobs which scored. A bit of cloud cover this week should hopefully kick the fishing back into gear, olive buzzers, sedges and damsels are the flies to try.
