Had a good day there today, tho could have been much better if i wasnt so much of a foozler!

Had 5 fishing straight line black buzzers (12s), could have had far more only i was intent on dry fly fishing as soon as the wind dropped. As the chop became a ripple it seemed every fish in the lake was taking off the surface, i tried all sorts, missed about 20 takes to the the dry only to land 1 (on a sedge.)

If the weather is like today you cant fail on a black buzzer on a floater.

all were very hard fighting 2lb+ fish, with 'the one that got away' a little bigger

its fishing its pants off.

Agree with that, my first trip there I had 13 after taking Ifor's advice, next time out another 3 on the fly ifor recomended.

If you're fishing the bank take your waders. Don't sit on one fly/fline if it's not working for you.

Default Thornton

Hi n-wade,

Thornton is fishing well, with plenty of fish showing. If you fish dries, then you are in for a treat.

Good advice form Chris, Ifor will give you all the advice you need.

Had a cracker there at Easter taking 12 on small cats whisker on a floating line. However now with the temp warming up the place should fish really well on buzzers. Black and olive work very well there.

Are you thinking of bank fishing or have you booked a boat?

If bank fishing bring waders & pray for cloud to keep the fish within easy casting range all day, just had two members come off the bank after a days fishing finished 3.45pm, one caught 15 to 3lb the other caught 10to 2lb.

The boats are fishing well, (you will need to book as were busy), best patterns small damsel, montana & buzzers.

Regarding the size of fish, the majority of trout I stock range in size from 1lb4oz - 2lb with a few fish 3lb+ stocked to add some interest.

Give me a call 01530 230807 for any info you may need or to book a boat.
