A matter of interest, hardly a 'disaster'.

Don't know if this is true, but not to worry as it's highly unlikely they will survive for a long period and virtually impossible that they could reproduce anyway!..

They have been contacted but they dont know. They cant count there fish. doigg to me its a disaster as it will probably play havoc with the river, As so many ppl have worked so hard to make it fishable again and personally i wouldn,t want some geezer intrested in money to ruin it . but it may just be talk here,s hoping.

If there are any escapees in the river, The buckie brigade will have them out in Jig time. with their flying c's.

Prior to my decision to stock with rainbows I carried out a thorough investigation into the risks to both the reservoir and surrounding tributaries.

In 2006 there were at least nine different waters I was aware of, with Rainbows that could get into the River carron system either directly or indirectly.

Prior to 2007 (when we first stocked Rainbows) there were numerous reports of Rainbows being caught in the River Carron. At least two of our regular anglers have caught them, one of whom had at that time, caught at least six.

To the best of my knowledge (at that time) none of these nine other outlets had a screening system to prevent escapees into the river system. I invested approx £2.5k in 1" mesh screens for this purpose.

Hilander - Can you tell me when you (or whoever it was) contacted us and who you /they spoke to that said we didn't know?

I have been aware of rainbow's being caught in the river carron well before they were introduced to the dam and I'm pretty sure where they came from.As you approach the dam from the carron bridge side there is a large house on the left hand side of the river(1/2 mile west of hotel) which has at least 1 pond stocked with rainbow's,there is also a burn which lead's straight to the river. There is only one way I know of that fish would be able to enter the river from the dam and this would be over an 80 feet drop into calm water at the bottom, highly unlikely!

Regarding the dams/reservoirs you refer to as"Denny Dams". The top dam "Drumbowie" run by Bonnybridge AC does stock with Rainbows. The bottom one "LittleDenny" run by Denny & Dist AC was stocked with Rainbows way back 25-30 years ago and not since!.
