Default Kilnsey Park

Hi, Im off up to Yorkshire at the weekend and will be staying near Kilnsey. As I have a free morning on the Saturday it would be rude not to try out my new 5 Wt rod and reel. Anyway has anyone fished here recently, also any recomendations for patterns.

Cheers in advance.

Sheepy.

Thumbs down

I last fished there about two years ago, small fish, poor quality and nothing to write home about. A few too many visitors for my liking.

I wont be returning.

Would have prefered to have had a bash at the Nidd at Pateley. However Wife, two kids and Granny plan to join me at lunchtime and there is lots for the kids to do at Kilnsey so may well get a bit more time on the water

Smile Kilnsey Park

Back casting a line after hols. and family commitments , me and the team [Wacker, Mole, Badger & Son ] thought we would give Kilnsey Park a go . The last time i fished Kilnsey was over 20 Years ago. The five of us all landed fish , some more than others with Mole coming out "top dog" banking upwards of 15 rainbows . Mole also took the largest rainbow ,when he finally landed it which seemed to take forever had HMS Dreadnought on the side an weighed in at 14lb. 4ozs. tempted by a ' coch-y-bonddu' . All the fish landed were clean , fully finned and hard fighters , the fishery is a well maintained and well run business . The two lakes are stocked to the brim and i think you must be more or less guaranteed to catch . The fishery is an ideal place to take any younger members of the family to introduce them to fly fishing . On a good day i class myself an average angler and looking back on the day i thought it wasn't really a challenge , bring on "STOCKS" .
Overall the day served a purpose the weather was good , the fishing was non-stop and the company as always was second to none .

I'll second that RETEP 1
I would imagine it being better to fish through the week as aposed to w/end, but hey you live n learn.
As said ideal for kids to get started

Totally agree with you both, fairly small in comparison with other waters but good fishing and fun which is the main thing
