Yes, I fish Packington quite regularly. If you prefer bigger waters then you are spoilt for choice..Blithfield or Draycote or Farmoor or any of the Anglian waters.

You'll get some good fish at Packington but it does require "fishing" as against "chuck it and hope".

I don't much care for Heathcote..two holes in a muddy field but, yes, I agree it is ideal for novices. If they want to try another one that is ideal for novices take them to Bransford near Malvern. A much nicer setting and they will catch fish.

Packington is stocked with larger than average fish..not much less than 2lbs. and you have more than an average chance of some into double figures. It is well stocked.

I would change fishing buddies - anyone who hates Carsington has something wrong with them!

On my travels down South,i have fished both Heathcote, which i didnt rank, and Packington which on my visits i did very well on dries, which i do rank, then Draycote, which as a big res a find very attractive and the quality of fish is amongst the best out there.
