Default Changes at Pendle View

Just read this on the Pendle View website:

Quote:
We will be opening a specimen trout water in the next 2 weeks. This lake will contain
rainbows, minimum size from 3lb upwards.
It will also be stocked with brown trout, blue trout and golden trout if we can obtain
them. There will be some new rules - ie catch and release only, minimum 5-6lb line,
barbless hooks (we will be doing hook checks!)
Tickets will be issued in blocks of two hour sessions.
We will keep you informed as things progress.
Kind regards,
Dave
I'll be interested to see which bit of water they intend to use and how much they'll charge for a two hour ticket.

Just spotted this on the Pendle View website. Seems the 'specimen water' will be the straight-sided "canal" that has been dug where the old stock ponds used to be. A more basic 'hole in the ground' is hard to imagine. Depressing that they intend to put quality fish in such a cramped space.

***NEW FLY CANAL OPENING SATURDAY 4TH APRIL!***
WILL CONTAIN RAINBOW, BROWN, BLUE, GOLDEN AND TIGER TROUT.
CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY.
£10 FOR BLOCKS OF 2 HOURS.
SIMPLE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED ON THE DAY.

Had a look at this new "Specimen Canal" today. A long oblong with no natural features and pegs every 20 feet or so. Any novice could cast to the far bank so these big trout are going to get some heavy fishing pressure. Noeyedeer was cheeky enough to ask for a free go and had two in no time, one a 5b'er foul-hooked. "Shooting fish in a barrel" is not far wrong.

I fished the Fly Lake proper and had a PB of 20 fish in just over 3 hours, to bloodworm and orange blobs, including a little Brownie about half a pound. Fell in headfirst up to my elbows too, but it didn't dampen my mood.

When yr fishing partner falls in, do you

A) Drop your rod and rush to pull him out.
B) Drop your rod and video him on yr mobile/camera.
C) Consider dropping rod, but laugh at him instead and carry on fishing.

My answer:
A) - Only if he's drowning
B) If he's swimming and in long enough to get camera oot.
C) If he's only in up to his armpits (although it was head first!).

On this occassion, C applied
