Default Glen of Rothes trout fishery

This week saw the first emergence of beetles and the trout took full advantage of it after a hard winter drought.Feeding in a frenzy on the surface beetle patterns and suspender buzzers in olive and black did very well.many catches of fish were well into high numbers which has been the norm over the past months and among them some very good fish.Again it was young Ben Grundie who grabbed the headlines with a total of 58 fish over 2 trips with fish of 8lbs 6ozs and a 14lb,er and 16lb,er aswell.Andy Fraser who had 45 on 2 trips caught a beauty of a wild cock brown of 10lbs plus,General Eric Paton had a cracking fish of 6lbs 14ozs,Stevie Wright had a good day with 35 fish and 2 over 4lbs,Mike Matthews had 34 fish,Slater Scott had 31,Donald Patience had 26,peter Ray had 20,Eddie Harrigan had 17,John Ralph 16,Ian Kerr 16,Gordy Nicoll 14,Dave leitch 13,Mark Morrison 11 and those on 10 fish each were,Scott Hadden,Jim Eddie,Rob Garthshore,Colin Moffat,Willie Wood,Dena Cruickshank and Chris Field.Tony Hunt had a decent day on the coarse loch with Carp, bream and orfe and the best was a nice mirror carp of around the 6lbs mark. With the water still a little cold the coarse is slow at times but when it warms should produce some good sport. The fly lochs and catches speak for themselves.
