Default Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir - Port Talbot

Can anyone help me with this location please, I've never fished it or know anyone that has. So I'm on a bit of a scrounge for info, any pointers would be gratefully received.

Can you fish on a day ticket?

If so where can you get these from?

Any particular type of fly a favourite?

Any spot from the bank or general area recommended?

Any other tips ?

sorry if this seems a lazy way to get to know the water but fingers crossed someone will part with some good info

Thanks in advance.

Hi, yes it can be fished with a day ticket. Dont fish it myself but I know others that do. Take the crem turn off from the roundabout and head towards the boat house. If you PM me I have a number for the club somewhere.

Ta, Lee.

I don't know if it is still the case but there used to be some cracking browns caught there in the early season. The key to success was that there were a lot of black leeches on the bottom and a slow and deep fished black lure did the trick.

It's a fairly straight forward place. Day ticket is about twenty quid now I think, and check out the rules on C & R as well I would.

Once you have paid at the lodge / hut you want to head left down that road for about 100 yards, park up, hop over the barrier, and fish off the boulders there in a like a kind of little bay. Whatever method you try will give you a fish or two I am fairly sure. It is jam-packed full of fish. Whatever you fancy fishing is worth a go.

That spot (you should have the sailing club thing around to your left hand side) always holds fish.

Enjoy the scenery too - you will have the M4 at your back, the steel works straight ahead, and the Crematorium over to your right.

I decided to do it the old fashioned way, managed to find the off button on my PC and went down there to see, ended up speaking to a friendly gent full of good info (thank you sir if your reading this )

As already said turn past the Margam Crem follow the road around, past BOC and you'll see the gates with the open / close times.. currently 7:00 till 19:30 .. or was it 07:30 till 19:00..

anyway, keep going through these gates till the lodge, left side white door is the ticket office, inside you'll see the day tickets, its a case of filling the ticket in, money and ticket in an envelope and post through a slot in the wall ... once you get there all the instructions are clear. There are a few no-fishing zones mainly down to the power lines, the little map in the office says it all.

£20 for a day ticket for 3 fish, but they also have a C&R rule, up to 10 fish can be C&R but once you have your 3 keepers fishing must stop. All brownies to be returned.

I went there today to fish, but my lack of experience and casting skills were tested by the very gusty wind.

It is an exposed place but with the range of fishing marks available it is somwhere I'll be visiting again.

Can you fish on a day ticket?

Yes it's £20 for 3 fish and then C&R

If so where can you get these from?

You get the ticket on site in the ticket office, post the envelope in the box provided and sign the visitor book.

Any particular type of fly a favourite?

At this time try boobies, blood worm, on sunk line to start you off, have a wander and check the shallow water in some of the bays for rising fish and then try your buzzers (black).
later on when the weather warms the shipmans, small cdc's,f flies etc do well, always have a few diawl bachs at the ready, and try a few of your own favorites.

Any spot from the bank or general area recommended?

You are very dependant on wind conditions, but it fishes well all around the fishery.

Any other tips ?

Ask any angler you see,we are a friendly bunch always glad to help.

Get a season ticket, open all year round cheap local fishing

Watch out for joggers on your back cast

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR IN THE MAIN GATE CAR PARK

All the best T.K .......................

Hi Stellafreak,

Yes unfortunatiiy last season we had a few cars damaged and broken into so i warn you just in case

It would be well worth you joining a complete years fishing for £180,(1st year) you know it makes sense

If you are interested you get the ticket in the small office at the entrance to the steel club open from 9.30 to 2pm.

All the best hope to see you on the lake soon TK......Tony
