Morton today
Was on Morton today with my nephew and we opted for the full days catch and release with a boat which cost £15 each.
I set up with a sink tip line and went for a blob on the dropper and a buzzer on the point, while the nephew was fishing an intermediate with a blob on the dropper and a damsel on the point.Third cast and the nephew caught a rainbow on the blob and another to the blob on his next cast.I caught one two minutes later on the buzzer.
We decided to move 15 minutes later across to the island and on the nephews first cast he hooked this fish on a damsel i knew was no small fish, after playing this fish for around 15 minutes and not seeing it we knew it was a monster and he could not believe it when he pulled it to the boat as this fish was easily 14lb.
After he caught another it was time for me to change over on to the intermediate line with a blob on the dropper and a sunburst tailed dancer on the point. We moved on round to the bays at the bottom end at about 10.30 and my day just got better and better as after i caught 15 fish up to 4lbs I decided that was enough on the lures and changed tactics to a floater and a single buzzer 5ft under an indicator as i had a rough idea what depth the fish were taking. I was steadily hitting fish with the buzzer when my time came to tackle a Morton monster which had my arm on fire for a good 15 minutes as it was really hanging on, upon getting it to the boat this was a rainbow of more than 13lb and made my day even better.
I ended up releaseing 28 fish and dropping and jagging huge numbers more while the nephew finished with 14.
These guys that have took over are doing a fantastic job and deserve a big pat on the back for brining Morton back up to where it belongs.
