There are a hell of a lot of competition lads that know that in three years Phil Dixon alone turned Foremark back into a premier fishery and a good competition venue plus a nice place to fish for your pleasure lads, will a person that has an interest in two fisheries be able to give that level of commitment?
I will not be travelling 2.5 hours to find out!

Personally Jeff, if i managed one fishery it would be too difficult for me to take away another mans livelyhood and dreams if i had mine already.
Fred.
You make a fair point Fred,

But in circumstances of bidding on an open tender you can't be sure what other people might do. I agree that it would have been preferable for Phil to have continued. Also, I don't know who else (if anyone) has put in a bid. The point I want to make is that if Phil was going to lose out anyway, then Ifor is as good as an alternative as anyone else I know. Having fished at Thornton I do know what a good job he has done there.

Regards

Jeff

Question Bids

Jeff

There were - as far as we know 5 bidders for the tenancy. I know 4 of those are confirmed as bidders. (Phil, Ifor, The sailing club and 2 locals Jody&Bob) The 5th I have no name for.

However there is a rumour emenating - that Ifor initially bid and then later retracted that bid.

Only to be asked later by Severn Trent to re-submit his bid...

I know of only 1 person on this forum that could confirm if the later approach by Severn Trent to re-submit the bid is only a rumour or is in fact the case.

I sincerely hope that this was not the case

Hi Jeff,
I agree with you there, that if Phil was going to lose out anyway, then Ifor would be the best alternative for Formark.

Buzzerman,
That's an interesting point you make, a question which many of us would like to know the answer to.

Rita, Sue and Bob too

Anyone going fishing

Is their more to this than i am seeing, an auction was ran, the highest bidder got the lot, why that bidder should then have to answer as to why he bid i dont understand.

If ST have done something under the table they must have had a reason, if phil was as good as you say ( i have not met him or fished here) why would they want rid of him.

I see it like this, he has either upset his landlord ( for what ever reason) and they want rid or he was just not the highest bidder and lost the auction, i see no issue with either senario.

I hope not - that sniffs of a conspiracy!
