Glen of Rothes trout fishery
Fishing has been excellent and with the colder weather drifting away,at last, fish have been high in the water and those who have chanced the dry fly to some anglers surprises have been rewarded with some good fishing. One 14 yr old with a Klinkhammer caught a nice overwintered fish of 8lb 3ozs and was pristine.Good numbers of fish are being recorded and sport has been really good with buzzers and those on sinking lines soon change when they note the floating line is what you need and smaller flies are what you need.Saying that damsels and tuftys are doing well as is the dancers on certain days.
One angler caught a brownie, which are all wild, and Im not into exagerations in any reports so when he told me it was 14lbs, I would say upto 10lbs rather than blow it all up.he is an experienced angler but I prefer to air on the side of caution as it was nt weighed. Now returned to grow on again.
Insect life is alive and well and so good to see rising fish and coming to the fly after a long winter.
