I am off to the lakes for a few days next week. not fished this area before. I have found Ghyll Head.

Has anyone fished it this year, any tips? is it worth a visit??

Thumbs up

I fished it last August on my very first fly-fishing trip. It was hot and the fish were deep, but somehow I managed to winkle two out on a Kate McLaren so it will always have a place in my heart. The scenery is stunning, as you would expect.

Sorry I can't give you any more up to date info, but I'd give it a big thumbs up!

Good luck.

Hi', Ian. You could also try High Newton, another WADAA water, which is much shallower and an excellent top-of-the-water venue. Good luck wherever you fish. Hope the weather is kind.TC
PS If you go to High Newton, watch out for the very sharp turn off the main road.

thanks for the feedback, Ghyll head is more local I think? I am staying in Langdale so that looked the better option? I look forward to hearing how you got on tomorrow.

Cheers

Ian

3 of us caught 25 fish . Floating / midge tip lines with buzzers , bloodworm , p.t.n and diawl bachs .
Best areas were at the shallow top end off the platforms and working our way down the same side as the platforms toward the dam but not going past the first point.
I think the wind has pushed the stock fish up that end - they seem to sticking together in little pods. Probably worth fishing anywhere that the wind is blowing into. Whenever the wind dropped there was fish on top .
We had a good days sport returning all the fish. I'm told it's due another stocking within the next few days so it should continue to fish well.

Hope this helps.

it was good to see you out and about yesterday hopefully your not feeling any after affects. sounds like you all had a good day and picked up fish at that bottom end of the res. it what was fairly blustery conditions.
Bring on the serious stuff now i can't wait
i am however concerned about the blobbers little face with a whip in conjunction with booze, it has all the makings of a nightmare.
