Default River Tieth

Going to fish the river tieth on 14th and would be very gratefull for any advice. Have fished it a couple of times at the end of last season but failed to catch my 1st salmon. Would I be better with a floating or an intermediate line? I have been told to get the flies down deep and I have also been told to fish them closer to the top. Very new to the salmon fishing so any info woulg be very much appreciated.
