Default Hazelcopse 24/2/09

First visit here for around two years.
Reasonably mild day, cloudy and no wind at all, lakes like mill ponds.
Started on the smaller pool without a tug.Moved to larger pool, nowt.Moved around, nowt.
Moved into far corner where i picked up a rainbow on damsel, but no more responses afterwards.
Changed over to buzzers and picked up the first of six fish all around 3-3.5lb with two lost, one of which slammed into the buzzer, kept going and had me down to the backing only for the hook to pull.Missed a few takes as well, but things went quite around 2ish.
Not my favorite spot as it is pretty small and with twelve others fishing, that was enough. At £15 for one fish and c/r all day, with the prospect of a real biggie,it aint bad value.

Default good outing

I spent an afternoon there in Jan; not the prettiest place and it is busy but good value I'd say. Kept a nice 2lb'er for the oven and released a couple of healthy fish.

Good day out by all accounts.

I tried to find the Hazlecopse website and couldn't find it apart from a one page guide from a fishery review website. This was dated 2000 and the guy who wrote the review was fishing for Salmon, he had 1 at 28lb, 1 at 22lb (both of which went back) and 1 he kept of 6lb plus a few rainbows on C&R.
Does the fishery still have salmon stocked or is that a thing of the past? Back then it was 2 fish for £15.00 then C&R, not bad value for that!

Cheers

Nigel. No salmon no tigers, rainbows and browns only now.Wilf reckons he has two 20's in each pool plus plenty of fish to 10lb.I have had fish to 9-4 in the past and when tigers were stocked my mate had one of 7 plus.
It is small and the water fairly murky and it is popular.Would not even contemplate going at a weekend.
For 15 two fish tickets incl c/r all day he will close the fishery to exclusive use.
