Default Blencarn, Cumbria

I'm planning a trio to Blencarn early next week. I was wondering if anyone has any recent information on how it's fishing, tips on flies and hotspots, that sort of thing.

Cheers,

Paul

Is it this one?

I've no idea about the accuracy of the information on that link, but according to it the season doesn't start there until 1st April.

Definitely worth ringing before setting out just to check

Aw, wooly b••••r!
I got my info here:
http://sodointernet.co.uk/phpwebsite...age&PAGE_id=95 and was seduced by the image. Thanks for pointing out my mistake, you've saved me a wasted journey!
I had originally thought of Bessy Beck but for some strange reason they close every Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. The three days I'm in the area.
Anyone else got any suggestions for still water trout in North Cumbria, North West Yorks, SW Durham that's open and any good?

Send a PM to TC, he will put you right.
I am sure he told me that Blencarn was open all year this year at £10 for a day, for two fish.
But I may be wrong, I often am. TC will confirm.
Cheers Steven.

Unless it warms up a bit you might be out of luck with small waters even if they are open. It's below freezing in South lakeland tonight and significantly colder in other parts of Cumbria.

Cheers Adz,
I've been looking at the long range forecast and it might be a balmy 7 degrees next week!

Cheers also MrTrout, I will PM TC as it was his posts that whet my appetite. He's definitely the expert around Penrith.

Its just that he's been around a bit longer than me.
Actually, he's been around a bit longer than most. Just kidding TC.

Ha ha, wasn't intended as a slight. Maybe I should have said one of many experts in the Penrith area.

No you are quite right Sharkey, he is my mentor.
Always a lot to learn from him.
