Default Neilston Trout Fishery Snypes Dam

Work is now underway on jetties and increasing access to the fishery. water levels have been dropped in order to build pontoons and clear weed/snags etc.

The fishery should be open mid febuary and a huge stocking of top quality fish will take place with rainbows and blues well into double figures.

There will be fliers in the tackle shops soon and the first of many competitions will take place in march. Building of the new lodge should commence april/may but access for now will remain the same.

Nice one Alex. Keep us all posted with that project. A few photos would be good especially of those fish. News Years resolution is to catch my first double figure fish!

Cheers

There will be 2 boats for starters and probably 4 by april.

Fish stocked will be blue, rainbow, tiger , brook, and goldies. tagged fish will be stocked weekly and all winners names will be published on the website. A decent head of good carp and other coarse fish are also present and all coarse species must be returned unharmed.

I will probably be having the first of many comps early in the season and prize money will never be less than £100 first place, the more entries the bigger the prize. Also up for grabs will be a quality fly rod for every competition.

Fish of the month will be featured on the big fish list and recieve a bottle of malt whiskey or a days fishing.

I will also be starting a summer evening league with top prize money and a winter league to follow . all info will be on website and anyone wanting photos added can do so by mailing them to me.

im starting from scratch with this place guys so please support me on this and watch snypes climb the ladder over the next few seasons, im sure you will all love the place and enjoy great sport on a superb water.

Tight lines.

Just as an aside - is there really any point stocking Goldies ? I know they are a variation of Blueys - but they fight like wet socks , are highly visibly lending themselves to constant targetting by anglers (and soon start to avoid any kind of lure / artificial) and are an easy meal for any passing cormorant.
I think they look 'orrible too.

Just my 0.002.......

Plans sound exciting.....I think some access improvements over the far side (from the current car park) would be well handy and some improved signposts on the way there would help quite a bit.

some times throughout the year goldies become available , they are not my cup of tea either but they do add a novelty and some people enjoy catching something different.

Harelaw will be strictly blues and rainbows.
