Rib Valley Dec 14th
Today was our first match for a few years on Millenium Lake and it was another very cold morning, which led me to believe it would be hard, but it actually fished much better than expected.
This is a simple catch and kill match, done on weight and so most people fished boobies a lot of the time, myself included. Quite a few fish were caught on other methods, with the winner, Neil Pinnington, who runs the tackle shop, having three of his on a floater and Apps bloodworm, and others catching on intermediates and black lures. I got my four fish, lost a few and had lots of pulls on a two booby rig on a six fish leader, most of them taking just as the leader loop reached the tip ring. I actually had pulls in every peg, showing the even distribuiion of fish.
About a quarter of the 25 person field had limits. Bart Farmer didn't but still managed to tie me for second and then do me on a biggest fish basis as he had one of 5-11 Neil's bag went 10-3, Bart and myself had 9-5. We all enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies after courtesy of the venue management and even last place got a prize.
