Glen of Rothes trout fishery report
Icey conditions did not put a damper on fishing this week and it showed in the catches by anglers who enjoyed some very good sport.Peter Green totalled 29 fish and topped it with a superb quality rainbow full tailed at 17lbs 8ozs,included also a fish of 8lb2oz and 6lbs 8ozs.Karen Gillies had 17 fish with her best at 5lb 8oz,Jimmy George had 11 fish for his few hours and had a beauty at 7lbs,Mike cowan had 11 fish with a nice 5lb 10oz to round his day off,Jim Walker had 15 fish,Nicky Bremner had 18 fish,Chris Johnstone had 15,Gordon Grant had 12 and Jim Eddie and Ian Kerr both had 11 each.The lochs are fishing exceptionally well and fish are not deep and it is those fishing with floating lines who are enjoying the best of the sport and at times fish are actually on the surface feeding.Sinking lines are going too far past fish and not needed and the best flies have been tuftys,okey dokeys,woolie worms and blobs.Sunday 14th sees the first ever coarse competition this far north and starts at 9am.Those interested contact the fishery and places are limited.next is the christmas comp on 21st dec and all are welcome.
