Default Barnsfold

Hi
Thought I'd start a thread on Barnsfold since I'm planning a trip there soon and wondered if anyone has any recent news on how it is fishing?

Barnsfold is one of my "most fished" waters this year with good catches and hard fighting fish (taste nice too). Haven't been over there for a few months though.

Noeyedeer,

It is a long time since i fished Barnsfold but do have some experience of the water as i worked there for 21/2 years. I would suggest that at this time of year you start of with ghost tip or Di 3 with a cats whisker (black or white) on the point with a red cruncher on the middle dropper and top dropper an orange blob. With a slow figure of eight retrieve. As for where to fish both lakes should be fishing well but start in which ever corner has the wind blowing into it as like a lot of waters the will pile up in these places. The best places will be the corner of barns at the overflow or in the opposite corner where the square blocks are from the old walkway to the tower, this area is the deepest part of the res about 40ft.
In beacon lake i would try far corner where the in let is, either side of the island and outside the booking in building this corner is always productive. If it is a very quiet day it is always worth fishing light and walking up the causeway having a couple of casts in one lake moving 10m up the bank and then having a chuck in the other and slowly working your way up to the top and then repeat the proccess on the way back.

cheers
BFB

don't use a leaded or chain eye cats whisker this makes it all easier to chuck about. if you pm me i can tell you what to fish through out the year on the water.

Talking

hi there if your gonna fish barnsfold this time of year i opt for a fast glass and fish a highland green fritz with a black marabou tail on the point and an orange blob on the dropper this does every time in the colder months at barnsfold i have fished there for many years and go there at least once a week although this year has been a little less as i am now in a club. also on a calm day long lining buzzers or nymphs is always worth a try although its rarely calm up there lol tight lines

Pull lures ?

Get a long leader on and explore the layers with a team of DBs and buzzers. The buzzers need to be small (size 16) and black.

......and if you fish next spring, two words - suspender buzzer!

Good luck,
M

Default Buzzers

Thanks Eden, I'd heard about the suspender buzzers working well there, I've recently tied some sz16 buzzers since last time I went I only had down to sz12, so that's going to be an option for the next trip.

Nice blog btw.
Dave.
