hi folks.................

well,first outing for myself for 2 yrs, met up with SMARTFLY at piper dam fishery,had a cuppa tea in the lodge before venturing on the water,9:00 :am.

WEATHER!!!!! ....0 degrees on the bank,should have looked behind me though,small bait pond and duck pond frozen.....

anyway,two tough cookies"should read mental " put our kilts on,were true scots...hahahaha, motored up the loch,set a drift,out with the drouge and there the madness started,,,lol... ..........

windchill out in mid water musta been -3,-4 below!!! choppy,and a bightingly cold wind....

FISHING...........

i started intermediate,CORTLAND BLUE ...it looked flat calm from the car park,, lol, first few casts ,instant ice on the rodrings,,lol,an inch of ice on the bottom of the boat,marabou flies frozen solid when wet,,i kidd you not... ..

so,as i battled with the drouge and the outboard,,,willie kept the spirits up with his sartorial witt,lol, BY THE WAY,GREAT GUY,EXCELLENT BOAT PARTNER,.


FIRST BLOOD TO SMARTFLY,BLACK AND GREEN ON A DI-5.......,decent 2lb ish bow,good scrap,

so his blanks off and im strugglin with lines that havnt been off the reel for yonks... lol,knit 1 pearl 2,the fingers had gone by this time ,running on pure adrenaline by this time,,,lol

think willie got his second fish next,canny mind what on,shure he has his own story to post,,hahahah, CONCENTRATE PETE,YOU CANNT BLANK!!!!i changed to DI-3 long leader and single fly,had 1 bow on smartys b/g mini lure and another on a dodgy orange fritz,,lolwasnt a day for anything complicated and delecate,,lol,big and brash.

2:00pm ish ,after much debate""about 2 seconds" we both aggreed we,d suffered enough and a draw was a fair result in the circumstances,,lol,back to the boat house, thawe out,tidy up,empty ice from bailer, ,lol,cuppa tea witht the baliff and a wee secret flyswap, and a blether,had a good day ,nice to meet the fella,and glad to be back in the gentle art of fly fishing,,lol



oh yea,nearly forgot,we were the only boat out tooday,whole place to ourselfs,,hahahaha "kinda tells a story eh!!!!!
