Default Fisheries close to Wolverhampton

Hi,

I have been coarse fishing for years but recently had the opportunity to try some fly fishing with a friend whilst on holiday in Devon. Although I found it quite difficult and frustrating to get the hang of this casting business, when I did finally get my first tug on the line I was hooked.

I have now bought some basic tackle and would like to have a go again. I am looking for somewhere to go within about 20 miles of Wolverhampton where it will be reasonably easy for me to catch. Preferably a venue where I won't have to cast too far whilst I am still improving.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rich

It might be a tad over 20 miles but Bransford Game Fishery near Malvern is your answer. Just a few minutes off the M5 so an easy journey.

Nice little place where you will catch fish..I near guarantee it. I take my Grandson there and he's never blanked yet.

Yes..in a small pool for, I think, a tenner.

There are two C&K pools and the C&R one..none of them big and the casting is easy.

Rich,
Gailey Trout is close by, j12 M6. Is that close enough? No idea how it fishes but it was featured in Trout Fisherman last year.

Umm...I've fished Gailey and I really think you want to go to Bransford.

I agree wit royvs
Only fished Bransford once this summer and
it was easy peasy---too easy really.Nice surroundings small pools so no long casting involved and when we were there i think the fish would have had a pop at anything.Personally the c/r pool i think is far too small. We tried it,had a few even easier fish out and packed it in.The fish were not too happy about going back in,however i did have a few of 2lb plus which went into the lake next door-as requested by the owner.
There is a complex of coarse lakes by the side of the M6 at Hanchurch, which i understand has a couple of trout pools.Pretty sure they are holes in the ground, but to have a crack at whilst gaining confidence, they may be ok.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I will have a go at Bransford as it seems ideal and when I am a bit more proficient I might have a go at Gailey.

Cheers
