Default Farmoor Winter Sport

Hi All, My Brother and I fished Farmoor 2 on Friday 14 Dec we took a boat and would have been happy to have had a couple of fish apiece.
The weather was overcast, breeze from W/SW at 12/14kph and about 10 Deg C.
First drift, on Minkie Booby and a blob attractor coupled to a DI5 fished slow and at varying depths right across and around Stockie Corner produced 1 pull and little else.
Then a change of drift to 3 mark straight across to 7 mark, fished hard on the bottom, very slow retrieve with 12 foot leader and two small Orange boobies saw us boat 7 fish to 3 1/2 lb!! they were a little sluggish, but to be expected at this time of year. All takes with the exception of a double hook up were slow and gentle!!
The wind increased considerably and we struggled to maintain the really slow presentation, so the fish dried up!!
We moved up to the relative shelter around the 4 mark and drifted down to about 100 yds beyond the cages on the Valve Tower side, where we had a steady string of fish all to Orange Booby and DI5 fished VERY slow and deep.
By 1600 we had our bag limits, total weight of 17.09 and 16.12, biggest fish a 3lb 9 oz Steelhead. Not bad for a winters Day!!.
As always Royston and his team were spot on with their advice and areas to fish, and they continue to run an excellent fishery.
We shall be back next week!!
Cheers all.

Hiya Bob! Think I recognise you! I used to fish for Odiham in the RAF southern league and fish the RAF champs ect.

Anyway Well done on getting your bag though I assume it was last friday (14th Nov). A couple of us from this forum went last month and the weather was appalling. Myself and Graeme currie had 10 between us and the other boat had 3 or 4 I think!

It's in here with the other Farmoor reports LOL Farmoor Reports & Info.

Sorry Peter, I meant November!! but hopefully will get the same sort of day then too!! Doh!!
Hi Laz, yes I think you probably do remeber us, I think I remeber you, you and one other used to fish from Odiham if my memory serves me right. It is well worth a go at the moment, but it is strange to me that the fish were all on Daphnia!! only one of them had a fry inside it.
Any way, give us a shout next time you are visiting and we shall try and meet up!

Hiya Bob,

Yeah the one other was Graeme currie (he's left the AF now) loud scotsman big red face
We were indeed the only people fishing out of odiham at the time.
Farmoor trout are just weird full stop! Graeme and I fished it Jan 04th this year and all the fish were crammed with snails but we took them on minkies...

Will do! There were four of us last time having a bit of a fun comp 'scierra pairs' style!

See you up there soon.
