Default Reluctant Walthamstow

To all Walthamstow Lovers it is hard fishing at Old Wally at the moment. I was up there on Saturday. Fished from 10 till 4 in the evening. The first 2 hours were a complete waste of time and energy. I tried every tactic that I could think to charm a take but nothing happened. The strong south-westerly wind and drop in the temperature did not help much either. But there were fish about and everytime the wind blew leaves on the water you could suddenly see small dimples/whirles appear on the surface by smaller leaves as if the trouts were checking them out, if they were food. I opted for a dry fly and had 3 good takes. One after the other in about 30/45 mins intervals.

Lost the first one while trying to net it, but managed to bag two. A rainbow and a decent size brownie (around 2 pounds or around that mark). The brownie actually followed the dry and took it right by the bank.

Call it sheer bloody luck or whatever you want to but .......it pays to preceiver...as they say.......and most of the chaps I mate along the way had atleast a fish to thier name.....
