Default Elinor Trout fishery

Going up there with my local fishing club the weekend after next. I've never fished there, just wondering how is it fishing at the moment??? Any tips also welcome

Dave, it's a great venue. You need waders if you are not in boats, as the margins are very busy.

Fish were heavily on damsels last time I was there. It is mainly floater fishing and I have found a washing line with two nymphs such as olive cruncher and diawl bach plus a small damsel booby on the point to be most effective. Most fish are up the far end at the moment, which is unusual.

OK, you need a floating fly, such as a booby or large dry on the point and one or more droppers with nymphs above that. I would fish them about 5 ft apart but you could get away with a bit less than that if you are worried about a long leader.

That way, all the flies are in the top foot or so of water. That is where the fish are feeding this time of year at Elinor because of all the hatching damsels.
