Default Carbeth Fishery

Was there yesterday afternoon and found it tough going. There were about a dozen people on the fly pond but only abut three fish caught all afternoon. Was begining to wonder how many fish were actually in the water! Well organised and friendly management though.

Was out a while back and couldn't believe the guy running it thought he could get 60 anglers on that little fly pond. Not very impressed.

Stockiemuir Road, a few hundred yards past the Carbeth inn.

Blink and you'll miss it, as the fishery is barely distinguishable from the rain-filled pot holes in the car park.

Horrid, miserable place.

Incredibly, the river Allander flows right past the fishery. It's stuffed with wild trout and rarely sees anglers!

I doubt it Alex. Being the main tributary of the Kelvin, it's well known. I reckon because the trout are small and the fishing often challenging, most people just ignore it.

Highlander, maybe I will see you down the Allander some time. I'm pretty sure I met you at the Milngavie fly dressers - I attended some of the sessions last year before work commitments got in the way. You showed me your box of wet flies, which I have to say were exquisite.
Unless I have the wrong person!

All the best

Alex

I did not know that was the Allander, is that the small stream that you cross over on your way to the fly pond?
