I stopped by North Third on Monday afternoon to book a boat.Having never fished the water i wanted to have a wee look at it.No sign of anyone in the hut ,only a sign on the door saying permits for sale after 4.30pm.Is this the normal for there? There were a few boats out and some bank anglers in the distance.Would have thought in the interests of safety someone would have to be there with the boats.

Just been on the phone booking boat.George explained why nobody was in the hut, fair enough reason. This is nosebleed territory for me i`m normally a small water fishery man.Just hope my big mate is as good in a boat as he makes out Andy

I was there for a casting lesson on Monday. Very quiet, only one bank angler (who took a fish when I was there) and no boats. As reported, the hut was locked up by 7pm.

Would be nice if the web-site was up to date but these things cost money. It looks like the priority has been bettering the access to the fishery. There's a new road to the water and a small (but expensive, I hear) footbridge too. I haven't fished it yet but can't wait to do so. Very spectacular setting. If you had parachuted in you'd swear you were in Canada or North America.

Steady mate, its no quite that spectacular....

Even if it was,the illusion would soon be shattered by the sound of weegies shouting across the water at eachother ...."whit colours yer damsel..? A rid wan or a yella wan..? ......
In fact the last time I was there there was all these r'soles literally racing eachother down the hill to make sure they got to the best bank hotspots before anyone else.....that was the straw that broke the camels back for me,I'll give it a miss thanks.
