Default Carron Valley

Hi folks

My club are off to Carron next Saturday fishing the day shift. Can anyone offer any hints on how and where to fish it just now. Hopefully this summer weather we're having just now will have finished by next weekend and we'll get back to better fishing conditions.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Pete

I'll cerainly give Fraser a call, but it's always handy to get the advice from guys that have been recently. I've only fished it once and had to spend most of the day sheltering from the wind up at the dam Still got a few fish tho

Hi,

I was up and the fishing was dire until the sun dipped then it got really good, i had 2 cracking rainbows on a size 12 olive hopper and a good few decent brownies on the same fly, i had to cast out, leave it for around 10 secs then twitch it back, thats when they were hitting it

best drift was tight in along the road shore after gull island

Cheers Barker.

Forecast is for showers on Saturday so hopefully there'll be a fair bit of cloud cover about as well

i was up on sunday night and the fishing was poor there were only three boats out and a couple of bank fishers we had a couple of broonies caught on wee buzzers and two powan {again} loads of fish rising especially towards the end of the session but hard to figure out what they were actually feeding on we fished stockie bay on a good drift towards gull island fairly close in, four fish surfaced for flies in my line of retrieve but c,ouldnt entice them at all to mine sooo frustrating....... a good tip though if ur fishing late shift get back up to the dam wall to get the best fishing of the night for the last hour or so beats cruising up from the bottom end last thing and getting no fishing

We struggled on Saturday as well Cumbrian. I managed a few undersized brownies on dries and lost a good rainbow (5lb ish) at the net but most of our club was blank or just 1 fish each. Rain was on and off but one of the showers was probably the heaviest I've ever fished in. Casting with one jand and bailing with the other

I'm going up tonight. I am not holding out to much hope as it is quite bright and sunny outside. At least there is a breeze. I am going to persevere though as I haven't fished it in a fortnight and am in need of a bit of peace and quiet.

Is it worth fishing of the bank or are you better hiring out a boat..
