Strange day !

Arrived about 9:30 - just to see some chap coming in who had been out since 4:30am.....he had a beauty of around 7 pounds and two others around 3....

So off we went full of enthusiasm , weather was warm, overcast and the loch was flat calm !

Loads of fish rising everywhere....... but gradually tailed off as the day wore on and loch heated up...... the amount of flies hatching was quite amazing.

I lost a belter , took a black snatcher which I had on as a dropper....snapped it clean off (7lb leader too) !!

Eventually I switched to buzzers and landed nice brownie just under two pounds (took a bright green spanflex buzzer)- which turned out to be the only fish on the bus !

I reckon get up there VERY early and you might be rewarded with a stonking brownie or two.

Impressive, did he get them on dries? There again, maybe he was a bit coy about it as he may suffer from that curious syndrome which ails some fisher folk, particularly those with a competitive nature, namely 'complete momentary loss of short-term memory,' which results in those cursed with the affliction just clean forgetting where and what they caught their fish on. Sadly their memory banks are completly eradicated, at least till they get out off the car park, when luckily the memories spontaneously come flooding back. Must be a mighty relief for the poor souls.

hi All,

I was out on Leven last night. Great conditions-gentle warm breeze, overcast and lots of fish rising (some crackers too). Managed 3 for the evening on snatchers.

I think I would of landed more if I'd noticed one of my hooks had straightened out! was getting loads of pulls but they kept falling off.

At about 9.30 the place went mad- lots of curlybums and huge sedges. at one point there must have been at least 20 fish rising all around me- getting the to take was a different story tho

Cheers,

TS

If this keeps up, they'll need to bring the fleet back.

Which areas are fishing best at the moment?

I really hope they do have to bring some boats back!

The willows are fishing well I was told. Got mine nearer the point of St Serfs though. Then later on I was in open water south of reed bower and the place was goin nuts but getting a take was a different story

Saw a lot of wee fish jumpin which was good to see-with all that feeding they'll be big pretty soon

Loch Leven, what a waste!

Poor management in my opinion ran leven into the ground, Scotlands top water should never have ended up like it did, if it was in England it would have been a different story, look at Rutland etc for an example!

Rainbows should never have been put in, why do so many Brown Trout waters turn to these fish, why do so many fly fishers chase these things ???

Fish for Brownies using the lightest outfit you can get away with and you will have far better sport/fun than any Rainbow could offer, keep these monsters in small purpose built fisheries and away from our Brown Trout waters.

I hope Leven gets back to what it was.
