Default Embsay Reservoir near Skipton

Has anyone fished this scenic reservoir recently ?

I have family in this area and fancied a visit to the water whilst there. Any info, type of fly to use, cost etc. would be appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve
I may be wrong but I think Emsbay reservoir is covered by the Burnsall and Appletreewick Angling Club and I think it is members only

I stand to be corrected

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve

Got this from http://www.yorkshirefishing.net/content.php?article.28

'Tickets are available from the following places Jackson's Fishing Tackle, Albion Street, Earby, The Petrol Station, Otley Road, Skipton and the paper shop, Main Street Embsay'

I think tickets are about £10. Haven't fished it recently but was walking up there a couple of weeks ago and the fish were hammering flies off the surface. It's an upland res so anything black is good - hoppers, bibio etc. If you fish fine you'll maybe also catch some of the wild brownies which are a distinctive chocolate brown colour - beautiful wee things.

Tight lines
Marra

I fished here once last year.

I payed about £7 for a day ticket from I think it was from Gee Tee Angling in Silsden, or I may have bought it from K L Tackle in Keighley.

It is a lovely reservoir which holds some decent fish. There are Rainbows and Brownies and some large Perch in the water.

You can use worm, fly and minnow.

I used wet flies, these were Wickhams Fancy, a beetle, Black & Peacock Spider and a few PTN's. I also used dry fly when there were some action on the surface.

I lost some small trout, most likely brownies on a red ant see here for picture.

Some one told me that if you go past the stream that runs into the reservoir and fish where the rocks are, then you will find the Perch.

I haven't been since.
