Question Daff Fishery

Bit of a stab in the dark here guys, but can anyone tell me whatever happened to the Daff Dam over in Port Glasgow.

Last i heard it closed when it and the Ardgowan changed hands.

Any Info would be great!

It is at the back of Inverkip and IIRC has not been fished for close on 5 years although it could be a lot more.

It was completely drained last year for maintenance to the Dam wall, hadn't any water for over 8 mths.
It's now barren but still watched by Ardgowan Estate due to the nearby Grouse shooting

It has been taken over by the owner of Ardgowan Fishery. He intends to turn it into a Fly Only Pike fishery.

I was out today walking round the Greenock Cut and went into the fishery cafe for a snack on my return. Got talking to the owner and that was the info he gave me.

Thanks for that B.R.

That is interesting news indeed. Cant imagine that it would be a success though...

Did you manage to get a line out on one of the wee lochs up there at the comms tower? Thats where I do 99% of my fishing.

Wasn,t fishing just out a walk. The wee lochs look good, full of Broonies I imagine. Might give them a go some time.

Interesting news indeed Border Reiver, there are no Pike in the Daff so they must must be going to stock them...

Does anyone know the legalities behind stocking pike.. if there are any at all???

Would be interested to find out more about this.

Well the odd sea trout and salmon have been known to swim up the daff burn and IIRC it is illegal to introduce a predator that can gain access to the water system of a migratory fish.
